Lancelot Thompson – Owner, LTF Carpentry Ltd.
Lancelot Thompson, the heart and hands behind LTF Carpentry Ltd., brings over three decades of rich, hands-on experience in carpentry, construction, and custom woodworking. His journey began at Fisher Park High School, where his natural talent for woodworking earned him top of the class honors. Even in his mid-teens, Lancelot was driven—working weekends at a retirement home in the Glebe, preparing meals, painting, and handling handyman tasks.

After high school, he pursued General Arts at both Saint Mary’s University and Carleton University, all while juggling jobs as a dishwasher, short-order cook, and bartender. Lancelot’s versatility extended beyond academics and hospitality; in the mid-80s, he also played professionally for the Hamilton Tiger Cats.
In the early 1990s, Lancelot officially entered the trades, starting as a drywall installer back when drywall hammers and ring nails were still the standard. He soon apprenticed as a trim carpenter, refining his craft by installing custom trim and doors in the Manotick area. Over time, he gained valuable experience working for several commercial contractors, mastering a wide range of skills including:

He took his expertise further with a Commercial Cabinet Making course at Algonquin College, while apprenticing under master carpenter Ken Cannon—a local legend whose carpentry book was translated and published in China. Under Ken’s guidance, Lancelot honed his cabinetry and custom millwork skills, setting the foundation for his own venture.
In the late ’90s, he joined the Carpenters’ Union as a second-year apprentice. Within months, he rose to Journeyman, then Lead Hand, working on major projects like Canadian Tire and Home Depot warehouses, as well as RONA stores. He later founded his own cabinet shop on Blackwell Avenue, offering custom cabinetry, office furniture, and general contracting services.

In 2007, Lancelot sold his shop and headed west to Fort McMurray, where he contributed to large-scale oil site operations, including scaffolding work.
Today, as the founder and owner of LTF Carpentry Ltd., Lancelot brings together decades of broad-ranging experience, deep craftsmanship, and a relentless work ethic to every project.
